Moltrasio is the first village on the western shore after Cernobbio, 4 km from Como city and 6 km from the Swiss border, with 1,700 residents spread over 6.5 km² at the foot of Monte Bisbino. The village is crossed by the Pizzallo torrent and the ancient Via Regina, and enjoys a mild microclimate favoured by its east-facing exposure.

Cultural identity revolves around Vincenzo Bellini, who composed parts of Norma and La Sonnambula here between 1831 and 1833 at Villa Salterio (now Villa Passalacqua, five-star since 2022 and listed among The World's 50 Best Hotels).
